Complete! Finished! It seemed to have taken forever but finally here it is. It is meant to be a couch blanket but I wanted to 'model it' on Annie's bed for the photographs. Not so sure I can get it back downstairs. She quite likes it just where it is right now. :) (Dolly made by Annie with mama's help)

ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for the sweet comments!!! I have to say, it feels quite wonderful to have it finished. It took more patience than I can usually muster for a project. :) Now back to knitting...
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog, and I just had to comment on this blanket. Stunning!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the rest of the blog is wonderful too :O)
My newest favourite blanket.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful.
Congratulations on your perseverance.
oh it's perfect. wish I had the patience.
ReplyDeleteLovely blog!
Very beautifull blanket.. I´m making one as well, but it takes time.. Now it´s on stand by.. Nice blog you have.. :)
ReplyDeleteHow very adorable! If you don't mind me asking, how many granny squares did it take to finish this beautiful piece?
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is made up of 144 squares, 12 squares a strip. :) I thought that would be a good couch size. Plus I think I ran out of patience to go bigger. :)
Wow, I think this blanket looks stunning! I love how the white makes the colors more powerful. And your edging is really special, could you please tell how you did it? I would love to use it on my own granny square blanket when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :) The edging is super simple, first a round of sc, then for round 2 I did *2 dc, chain 3, 2 dc* in every fourth sc. Row three just one more round of sc. Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI have seen so many granny blankets, but yours is one of the most beautiful! It makes me want to make my own for my son :) Could you please tell me how you put all your squares together?
ReplyDeleteHi!! Thanks for the sweet comments!
ReplyDeleteI just sewed them together using a whipstitch, first in strips, then the strips together. Almost invisible. Good luck on your blanket!!!!
Congratulations! This is a beautiful blanket. I'm about to order wool for a similar project- do you have any idea how much of your base colour you used? Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I honestly have no idea how many balls I used up.... I do know I started with 4 and made several trips back to the store for more, haha. Fortunately the dye lot wasn't so important for this project. Depending on the size blanket I would probably start with 6-8? But can't guarantee! :) Good luck!! This is a fun project for sure.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful blanket!
ReplyDeleteIt looks terrific! That must have taken forever!
ReplyDeleteJoanna asks for help to make the floral motif in the centre of the granny squares
